Jembrana
Located in the west of Bali, it is characterized for being a calm region with hardly any tourism. A large northern mountainous half of pristine jungle with wildlife that is part of the National Park of western Bali, while in the south there are 71 kilometers of beautiful and vast beaches. The sand on the coast is mostly volcanic, therefore black, but there are also some beautiful white coral beaches, especially in Medewi and some mangrove forests. The south also has some of the most beautiful rice terraces on the island. It is characterized by its production of rice, melon, vanilla, cloves, as well as cattle, buffalo, ox and chicken farming. Its industries include canned fish and shellfish, coconut fiber, clothing, cagcag weaving, bamboo mats, and wood carvings. It has the most ethnically diverse community in Bali. Still, most tourists are unfamiliar with this region, but it does have some tourist destinations worth visiting such as:
Negara- Capital of the region is a small town that is located along the main road. It is famous for its water buffalo races, held between July and October depending on when the harvest ends each year. It is a great show that attracts many tourists as well as many Balinese. It has excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities.
Medewi- Beach Famous surf beach that is divided into two main parts, the eastern half very rocky with black sand and the western half which is more sandy. It is not the best beach for sunbathing or resting although it is great for long and quiet walks. It is better to surf in the morning, before the wind starts to blow. Local fishermen bring their fish just east of the river mouth where they can buy fresh seafood of all kinds at a great price. Cows grazing, wives of fishermen mending nets, children playing, and boats coming out of the water. There are many scenes to savor with the sunset over the Indian Ocean that bring magnificent moments to life.
Candikusuma Beach- They attract attention for their exotic natural beauty, where there are two temples dedicated to the legendary figure of Dang Hyang Nirartha: the temple of Indra Kusuma and the taman Sumur Bulus. Locals relate how in 1897 two Dutch officers were attracted to the place when they saw a light coming from the ground. It turned out to be a kris (a supernatural dagger). Known for its beautiful black sand and gentle hills. Ideal for swimming or bathing because its waters are clean and intact. With a quiet environment, ideal place to disconnect. Its coastline is often used as a sand fishing spot by locals.
Baluk Rening Beach- Fabulous black sand beach with calm waves, perfect place for relaxation. One of the most beautiful beaches in the region, where you can enjoy magnificent views, as well as sunrise and sunset. Savoring delicious fish barbecues sold by villagers around the beach.
Perancak Beach- Located in the village of Perancak, one of the popular attractions is the "Sea Turtle Preservation Center". At the research center, tourists can see the different species of mangrove plants, as well as appreciate the efforts that the Bali government is making to preserve the environment.
Delod Berawah Beach- In the village of Delod Berawah you will find this black sand beach with vegetation of pandans that offers a particularly charming environment for relaxation. There is also a “mini water park” that includes the only public seawater pool on the island. North of the beach there are traditional buffalo races that have become the main tourist attraction in the kingdom.
Pengeragoan Beach- In the town of Pengeragoan you will find this black sand beach with palm trees and Panda trees. In the northern part there is green grass being a very beautiful place to enjoy its landscape culminating in the sunset or to enjoy fishing.
West Bali- National Park Located in two provinces Jembrana and Buleleng. The entrance to the park is on the Jembrana side in the Melaya village. Coastal mangrove forest, savanna and tropical jungle. Where to meet endless animals such as the endangered alak putih, leopards, wild boar deer, wild buffalo, snakes, iguanas, lizards, turtles, monkeys, geckos and huge spiders, paradise for birdwatchers as there are more of 160 different species.
Pengambengan- Bali's largest and most important fishing port has a large fishing community, its main attraction being the “precious” fishing boats with many bright colors adorned with the images of gods. These Maduesa / Bugis-style fishing boats are a remnant of the merchants from Madura and South Sulawesi who settled along the west coast of Bali for generations. The largest fish auction in the region is held in this port. In addition to the shipyard, there are also factories around the pier with fish oil canning and processing plants.
Bunut Bolong- Known as 'The Magic Tree', this amazing Banyan tree has a large hole at its base. It naturally formed and is as wide as the main road that runs through it. At its two ends are two small temple shrines adorned with yellow and white fabrics. It connects the village of Pekutatan in western Bali with the north coast. Mists are common in the morning and in the afternoon. This adds a magical aura to the site.
Juwuk Manis Waterfall- Only 5 meters high, they are two small adjoining waterfalls that surprise with their beautiful views including treakking to access them from a somewhat complicated kilometer through the dense jungle, the cliffs and the coffee plantations and clove, where you can enjoy a refreshing bath in fresh and clear water, fresh air, the sounds of water, birds and trees plunge you into paradise.
Rambut Siwi- One of the largest Hindu temples in Bali, located in the cliff-side village of Yehembang Kangin, blessed by the breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean right in front of the temple, it is the site of many ceremonies and calendar activities Balinese Hindu. The atmosphere is calm and good for relaxation of the mind. It is the largest temple in Western Bali. It was built in 1500 by the same priest who built Uluwatu and the temple of Tanah Lot. Where all vehicles driven by local Hindu people will stop for a while to worship and obtain God's blessing during the journey. The same stop is made by local people at Goa Lawah and Pulaki temples.
Palasari- Dam located in the town of Ekasari where there is a Catholic church "one of the few Catholic communities in Bali is found." The dam works to control the volume and pressure of the waters avoiding floods. It is also used for irrigation, fishing and as a recreational place, where to practice water sports, surrounded by the green forest in the fresh and refreshing air.
Gilimanuk- It is the westernmost city in Bali. Where to take the ferry to Java that leaves every 20 minutes 24 hours a day and takes approximately half an hour to make the crossing, although loading and unloading can take a long time.
The quiet bay is good for water sports and is the closest place to stay if you want to visit West Bali National Park. It has a growing Muslim presence of Javanese immigrants, including new mosques under construction. Where to visit the Situs Purbakala museum with a collection of skeletons and artifacts found near Cekik, believed to be between 3,000 and 4,000 years old.
