As the main city Ubud characterized by its exhibitions of antiques, handicrafts and works of art of all kinds made by fascinating skillful and creative hands, bringing together even a large number of foreign artists settling there since the 20s, 30s and 50s.

Indispensable location in which to savor Balinese theater and dance mixed with its most traditional musical rhythms.

As sites forced to visit we have:

ELEPHANT CAVE (GOA GAJAH) - Whose temple located in the interior, is one of the oldest, most interesting and most revered places. It offers a collection of caves carved by Buddhists at a time when Buddhism and Hinduism shared the weight of religion. The faces and statues are very similar to today's traditional statues, showing that this style has been alive for over a thousand years. 

 

 MONKEY FOREST- Or the sacred forest of monkeys, is a small tropical forest full of gardens, trees and temples inhabited by these friendly animals, which protect and guard it. It is located in the heart of the village of Ubud, with beautiful souvenir shops along the promenade and very close to the art market.


PURI SAREN- Palace of the King of Ubud designed in the traditional Balinese style with its characteristic gold, wood and stone carvings. Main stage of the Balinese dance show. Where the Ubud royal family currently lives.

Its hospitality is appreciated and the importance of religion for its inhabitants, we find the essence, history and culture of a city that does not disappoint anyone.

The rest of the temples of the city of Ubud are inspired by it, many houses and hotels have copied its form and distribution.

Where to enjoy a walk through its interior gardens, full of small sanctuaries full of offerings or get lost in its cool rooms and rooms, opening the doors to one of the best preserved “relics” on this island. 


THE TEGENUNGAN WATERFALL- Hidden in the village of Ubud, exactly in the city of Kemenuh. Its water is very clean and clear where you can cool off and bathe or just play around the water.

In a really idyllic setting, surrounded by nature with beautiful green trees. There is a kiosk where you can have a drink and relax in this special setting. The best time to take photos is in the afternoon since in the morning the light does not let you see sharpness and clarity. 


AYUNG RIVER- Located in Ubud. Rafting offers a 10 kilometer route, 1 to 2 hours long. Very suitable for beginners, it has a fantastic landscape with stone carvings somewhere in the walls of the river. 


PURA GUNUNG KAWI- Temple dedicated to the god of water, it has a sacred natural spring and several ponds. Located in the mountains where you can breathe a very pure air surrounded by green rice plantations and beautiful palm trees, so the temple buildings acquire an even greater charm than they already have, making it an ideal place to relax. 


TEGALLALANG- Where almost all forms of crafts made in Bali are found. It is a market city known for its wood carvings and temples, and for being one of the most spectacular rice terraces. The surrounding gorge filled with rice fields, has attracted filmmakers and photographers from all over the world through the years. Take a few minutes and watch the white herons return to the nest as the sun goes down. 

 

TIRTA EMPUL-Temple whose name means "crystal clear stream" located near the source of the Pakrisan River. Built around 960 by the Warmadewa dynasty. Since then, for more than a thousand years, the Balinese have come to bathe in the sacred waters of their spring for healing and spiritual purification ritual.

Legend says that it was created by the god Indra, his worshipers had been poisoned by Mayadanawa, so he descended to earth to build the source of immortality and revive them. There are chapels dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.

In the courtyard called "mandala madya" pilgrims first make their offerings, then take their baths for purification, making it from west to east until they reach the eleventh spout, the last two are reserved for purification purposes in funeral rites. It is a parade of people from both locals and tourists. 

  

PENATARAN SASIH- Or Temple of the Moon. Contains the famous bronze Moon Drum, over 2000 years old. It is the largest and most unique bronze drum in the world. Good examples of stone carvings from the 13th and 14th centuries can be found in the nearby temples of Pusering Jagat and Kebo Edan.  

 

SUKAWATI MARKET- Pass Seni Sukawati, a very nice place to buy good deals. Finding all kinds of souvenirs from Bali, from wood carvings to paintings, clothes, traditional products, jewelery etc. The products do not have fixed prices, so with patience and a sense of humor, there is no doubt about negotiating! 

  

MAS- It is a town whose identity is the wood sculptures, which have become tourist objects and attraction to the Balinese culture with great potential and importance on the island. Where is the Rudana Museum, considered a landmark in the art of Bali, especially painting. 

 

CELUK- Village of artisans dedicated to the manufacture of gold and silver jewelry. In addition to the shopping opportunities, there is much to see in the surroundings, the culture of the area is fascinating, where we can relax when seeing that the pace of life is slow, you will find its very interesting people and a lot of places to try from the dishes from typical food to more international, with small high-end hotels and lots of charm.
